Unlocking Potential Providing Opportunities Achieving Goals

Special Educational Needs

Blackwell Primary School aims to be an inclusive school, where all children are encouraged to reach their full potential.

As much of the work in school is geared to meet individual needs and progress is carefully monitored, difficulties or special aptitudes are identified at an early stage and appropriate action can be taken.

Where a child shows signs of exceptional ability, an appropriate member of the G&T Advisory Service is consulted for advice on ways of extending that ability.

If a child experiences real difficulty in learning, with the co-operation of his or her parents we ask the Education Support Service for assessment and advice.  A support teacher may be asked to help with individual or group tuition.

The school has a published Access Plan available on request.

The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Miss Hatter.
